PDP LOYALISTS FORESEE END OF PARTY'S CRISIS

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Friday expressed total optimism that the lingering feud in the national leadership of the party will soon be over.

The PDP supporters in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State said having committed the challenges of the party into God’s hands, there is no going back on the huge political successes which the party hopes to harvest in 2019.

The party faithful expressed their confidence in separate interviews with The Pointer shortly after the PDP Prayer Day held at the PDP secretariat in Oghara, administrative headquarters of Ethiope West Local Government Area of the State.

According to the Ethiope West Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Onome Ojo, there are on-going negotiations to end the internal crisis rocking the national leadership of the party, but the prayer had become inevitable in order to involve God in the renewed efforts at restoring peace to the party.

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ethiope West, Hon. Onome Ojo (Left), Rev. God'spower Iweh of First Baptist church, Ogharefe (3rd Left) and others praising God during the novel PDP Prayer Day held in Oghara.

“There is no doubt that the challenges we are having in the PDP are internal. There have been moves by our leaders to reconcile the aggrieved parties, but I think it is very wise to organize the prayer for God to intervene in our party because I am very confident that when the national crisis is settled, then the national and ward divisions of the party are also settled with its positive effects on future elections.

“With the successful conclusion of this prayer, I know God Almighty has answered our prayers already and anytime from now, we will get results to the effects that all the aggrieved groups of the party have been reunited and integrated into the party”, Ojo said.

A former Commissioner of Transport in the State, Hon. Ben Igbakpa said internal wrangling have greatly threatened the PDP, but expressed hopes that God will cement all broken walls in the party and help it reclaim power, especially at the federal level.

Igbakpa called on supporters of the party to re-examine their ways of lives and refrain from any act that is inimical to the growth of the party, noting that human inadequacies of party members are posing threat to the consolidated existence of the party as the strongest political family in Nigeria.

Commending the Ethiope West chapter of the PDP for organizing a novel prayer day of the party, the Ezemo of Ijere Kingdom, Chief Samuel Okoro said the prayer “has ended all the crisis of the PDP from the national to ward levels”, urging all members of the party to embrace “sincere reconciliation” in all of their affairs.

Another chieftain of the PDP, Chief Robert Eyaufe described the prayer day “as a good thing done in the right direction”, believing that the prayers have already been answered by God. This was just as the State Public Relations Officer of the PDP, Chief London Owhofasa observed that the party is now in a new dispensation in which it cannot fail “because it is fully connected to God”.

Earlier, Rev. God’spower Iweh of the First Baptist Church, Ogharefe, said the PDP had derailed from God’s initial plan for it, hence its lost of power at the national level.

However, Iweh noted that since the party had decided to bring God into its affairs, it must strive to repent and reconcile with God and man, assuring that God will restore the party to power if it returns to its initial mandate.

Meanwhile,  fresh facts have emerged as to how the Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, OZORO, Dr. Jacob Oboreh ran the affairs of the school for about five years.
