FOR CLAIMING IT IS TAKING OVER DELTA STATE, PDP RAINS KNOCKS ON APC

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State has taken a swipe at the All Progressive Congress for consistently claiming that it has taken over the state.

The PDP Chairman in Ethiope West, Hon. Onome Ojo specifically deflated the claim which he described as Facebook politics, observing that PDP is not a Facebook party but a practical political platform.

Ethiope West PDP Chairman, Hon. Onome Ojo.

Ojo who spoke in an exclusive interview with our correspondent held at the PDP secretariat in Oghara, said the strength of the PDP is not domiciled in social media platforms as Facebook, boasting that the party remains firm and strong ahead of the 2019 polls.

The party chairman was reacting to growing claims on the social media that the APC had perfected plans to successfully wrestle power from the ruling PDP in the state.

Such claims have been trendy on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, with supporters of the two major parties in the country tongue-lashing one another.

Apparently baffled by such claims, Ojo queried "in what way, what structure do they have to take over the state?... you cannot take over with mere words of mouth... We are the ones taking over at the national level because with the way we are going now, we are taking over at the national level by 2019".

"PDP is not a Facebook party; PDP is a practical party that is on ground. Those who want to make noise are the ones running to social media to make claims of taking over Delta", the PDP chieftain maintained.

Ojo called on aggrieved members of the party to shun defection and remain committed to the success of the party at all times, positing that "nothing is out there (in the APC) to run to".

Meanwhile, many students of Delta State University, Abraka may soon face expulsion sanctions after defying authorities of the state owned institutions on Saturday. There are indications that students of the university continue the ritual of pouring water students despite a threat of sanction by management of the university.
