Barely 24 hours after former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori regained freedom, information has trickled in that the governor controlled the affairs of the State from his incarceration room. 

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi said Ibori tactically orchestrated political manoeuvres even from his prison cell in London.

Recall that Ibori who was released on Wednesday, December 21, after he was convicted of money-laundering was received by friends and members of his family among whom was the Delta North Senator, Nwaoboshi who said he got to the position because of Ibori.

In a video shared online, the senator bragged that he flew first class to welcome Ibori as he was released from prison, insisting that the former governor’s political relevance still remains strong despite his near decade of being away.

According to Naija.com, the Senator claimed Ibori installed two governors in Delta state apparently Emmanuel Uduaghan and Ifeanyi Okowa while he also made his daughter, Erhiatake Ibori, a member of the Delta state House of Representative.

The senator added that Ibori also supported the emergence of Yakubu Dogara and Bukola Saraki as Speaker of the House of Representatives and Senate President respectively from prison.

Our correspondent reports that Nwaoboshi may not be the only proponent of Ibori's perceived Afghanistan political influence as his ardent supporters, particularly his kinsmen, had claimed such glory for him in the past.

One of his kinsmen, Mr. Sagboje Onoriode Clinton, while arguing that Ibori has been on top of affairs in Delta State wrote thus: "What is betrayal when all Ibori  instructions from Dubai and London was effectively carried out by his lieutenants (sic)"?

Even a strong leader in Oghara, Ibori's home town, also told our correspondent on phone that the ex-Governor's relevance had remained unshakable despite the legal battle he was faced with.
